Removal of Pb(II) and Cd(II) by Biomass Derived from Broadleaf Cattail and Water Hyacinth

چکیده

The potential of cattail (Typha latifolia) and water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) biomass to remove Pb Cd ions from metal solutions was determined. removal efficiency decreased with the increase in initial concentration aqueous solution but increased doses. biosorption unaffected by pH 5.0 6.5. Metal contact time then reached equilibrium about 45 min. Higher qmax (the Langmuir model) KF Freundlich constant) suggest that both have a greater affinity for Pb(II) than Cd(II). better fitness adsorption kinetics pseudo-second-order model pseudo-first-order indicates has an inclination toward chemisorption. present study showed are promising biosorbents provide green, practical, cheap household filtering systems rural communities.

Removal of Heavy Metals from Waste Water Using Water Hyacinth

-Water pollution has become one of the most serious problems of today’s civilization. In the last few years considerable amount of research has been done on the potential of aquatic macrophytes for pollutant removal or even as bio-indicators for heavy metals in aquatic ecosystems. Water hyacinth is one of the aquatic plant species successfully used for wastewater treatment. It is very efficient...

Removal of Cadmium and Zinc by Water Hyacinth, Eichhornia crassipes

Toxic heavy metal pollution of water and soil is a major environmental problem, and most conventional remediation approaches do not provide acceptable solutions. Wetland plants are being used successfully for the phytoremediation of trace elements in natural and constructed wetlands. This study demonstrates the phytoremediation potential of water hyacinth Eichhornia crassipes, for the removal o...

Removal of Pb(II) from Vanillin Solution by Acid- modified Cattail Biomass

The use of the aquatic plant cattail to produce an adsorbent for heavy metals will add value to wetlands. Cattail adsorbents were treated with multi-valent carboxylic acids to facilitate adsorption of Pb(II) from a vanillin solution. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic analysis confirmed the formation of acid modifications by esterification. While unmodified cattail had a Pb(II) ads...
